Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru Zilla Panchayat (ZP) CEO B.R. Poornima said that officials must undertake more awareness programmes in order to ensure a high voter turnout with a larger participation of newly enrolled eligible voters.
Addressing a SVEEP activities meeting at the Zilla Panchayat Hall here recently, Poornima said that College Principals and Nodal Officers should ensure that there are maximum enrolment of students who have attained eligibility for voting.
Noting that enrolment of voters seems to be at the lowest in prestigious educational institutions, she said that the heads of institutions should make maximum efforts for highest voter enrolment.
Calling upon the officials to have special focus on newly eligible voters living in forest areas and tribal hamlets, she said that new voters at Gram Panchayat (GP) level must be marked. She also asked the GP staff to make public announcements on voter enrolment in all villages coming under their respective GP limits.
Zilla Panchayat Deputy Secretary Krishnam Raju, MCC Deputy Secretary Savitha, BEO Krishna, DDPUE Nagamallesh and other taluk-level officials were present.
