OPPO Mobiles India Pvt. Ltd. has won the sponsorship rights for Team India for a period of five years and at Rs. 1079.29 crore.
The bids were opened in the presence of CoA representative Diana Edulji, BCCI officials and the bidders through at the BCCI Headquarters yesterday.
The five years rights period starts from Apr. 1. This period will see Team India play 14 home series and 20 overseas series which also include the ICC Champions Trophy, ICC Cricket World Cup and the World T20 events.
OPPO joins other prominent sponsors like PayTM, PepsiCo, Hyundai and Janalakshmi Financial Services. The Chinese electronics manufacturing company will take over from Star India, who had paid Rs. 538 cr. for their four-year term in 2013, which comes to an end on Mar. 31. The second highest-bid this time around came from Vivo, another Chinese technology giant and the title-sponsor for the IPL since 2015, who bid Rs. 768 cr.
