10-day Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav begins

Dr. Arundhathy Chandrashekar, Commissioner for Treasuries, Bengaluru, who inaugurated the 10-day Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav-2023 in city yesterday, taking a look at the materials on display at a stall.

Mysore/Mysuru: The 10-day Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav-2023, organised by the Gujarat Government’s Industrial Extension Cottage (INDEXT-C), began at JSS Mysore Urban Haat on Ring Road, Hebbal Industrial Area yesterday. Dr. Arundhathy Chandrashekar, Commissioner for Treasuries, Bengaluru,  inaugurated the expo.

Speaking on the occasion, she said that JSS Mysore Urban Haat is host to many such expos of other States. Noting that the Gujarat Handicrafts Expo offers a wide range of handicraft products and articles, she appealed the residents of Mysuru and surrounding areas to make full use of this expo.

SWR Divisional Railway Manager Shilpi Agarwal, who was the special guest, lauded the JSS Mahavidyapeetha for promoting desi handicrafts, artworks and artisans. Highlighting that such expos will help in the exposure of special handicrafts of different States, she said the public should visit such expos and thus promote our skilled artisans.

JSS Mahavidyapeetha Secretary S.P. Manjunath, who presided, said that the JSS Mysore Urban Haat started functioning 20 years ago in a sprawling 6-acre area on the Ring Road. Noting that the JSS Urban Haat has thus far hosted 135 expos, he said that this was the 9th edition of Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav and Mysureans should make good use of it.

KSHDCL Managing Director D. Bharathi, INDEXT-C Executive Director D.M. Shukla, B.S. Nandini, Joint Director, Department of Industries and Commerce, JSS Urban Haat Convenor Shivananjaswamy and others were present.

The Handicrafts Utsav will be open on all days till May 28 between 10 am and 8 pm.
