10 specially-abled friendly Polling Booths

Mysore/Mysuru: A total of 10 specially-abled friendly Polling Booths have been set up in the district for Assembly elections today.

Barring Varuna, Specially Abled Polling Booth have been set up at one each of remaining 10 Assembly Constituencies in the district, to empower the target voters to exercise their franchise with confidence.

Wall paintings like wheel chair bound people, index finger raised to mark the significance of voting,  voters with walking stick, along with catchy slogans like ‘Nanna Matha, Nanna Dhwani’ (My Vote,  My Voice),  ‘Nanu Vishesha Chetananadaru Matha Chalayisuttene’ (Being Specially-Abled, I Will Vote), ‘Mathadana Maadi Prajaprabhutva Gattigolisi’ (Vote And Strengthen Democracy), ‘Nanna Matha Nanna Hakku’ (My Vote My Right) among others, attract the voters.

The District Administration has described it as an laudable effort to ensure that the specially-abled are not deprived of voting, with the specially-abled staff volunteering to handle polling duty at respective booths.

Such booths have been set up at Government High School, Shettanayakanahalli, Mysuru taluk, Chamundeshwari Assembly Constituency, Institute of Education High School, Rajendra Nagar, Narasimharaja Constituency, JSS High School, Metagalli, Chamaraja Constituency, Government Higher Primary School, Devaiahanahundi, Krishnaraja Constituency, Government High School, Dharmapura, Hunsur Constituency, Government PU College (High School Division), T. Narasipura Constituency, Government Higher Primary School, Bylakuppe, Periyapatna Constituency, Government PU College, Nanjangud Constituency, Hebbal Gram Panchayat office, K.R. Nagar Constituency and Government PU College, H.D. Kote Constituency.

All facilities have been created for the benefit of specially-abled, at the Polling Booths.
