V. Somanna stands in queue, votes in Chamarajanagar booth

Chamarajanagar: Chamarajanagar and Varuna BJP candidate V. Somanna cast his vote along with his wife Shailaja at Booth No.75 (Government Primary School) in Chamarajanagar this morning.

Speaking to presspersons, Somanna said he and his wife have become voters of Chamarajanagar with their names having been enrolled in the electoral rolls of Shankarapura extension in the town. Pointing out that he could not cast his vote in Chamarajanagar in the last three elections, he said he has cast his vote for the first time now after delimitation of Assembly Constituencies was done over 15 years ago.

“I am very delighted to have cast my vote in Chamarajanagar for the first time. Earlier, I used to vote at Govindarajanagar Constituency in Bengaluru, which I currently represent. I have been in politics for 45 years and contested 12 Assembly polls,” he said while expressing confidence that the people of Chamarajanagar are surely going to elect him.

Noting that he has a lot of faith in Lord Male Mahadeshwara, he said he is very much hopeful of becoming victorious in both Chamarajanagar and Varuna. The developmental works that he has done will help him sail through in the polls,  he added.

Somanna is also contesting from Varuna Constituency in Mysuru district, where he is taking on Congress heavyweight and  former Chief Minister Siddharamaiah in his (Siddu) home turf.
