Over 1,000 people get treatment at makeshift hospital

Mysuru: Over 1000 people have received treatment over the last two days at the temporary hospital set up behind the main stage of the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana which will conclude today at Maharaja’s College Grounds here.

In the context of a huge number of literary buffs arriving at the Sammelana from various parts of the State and country, the Department of Health and Family Welfare had set up the temporary hospital to take due care of health problems of participants.

A team of ten doctors and staff were rendering free medical aid daily from 8 am to 8 pm.

The six-bed temporary hospital also had an Out Patient wing, an Emergency Care Section, a women’s wing, a laboratory and a dispensary.

Three ambulances too were stationed for any emergency. Most of the people were treated for fever, headache, hyper tension, diabetes and gastric problems, according to medical officer Dr. S. Somashekar.
