Over 1,000 take part in techNIEks Run for vision

Mysuru, Mar.4- TechNIEks 2018, the National-level Annual Techno-Cultural Fest of National Institute of Engineering (NIE) launched another major Pre-techNIEks event — ‘The techNIEks Run’ this morning at the Golden Jubilee Block.

The event was launched to support the blind under the theme ‘Run for Vision.’ The Marathon covered a total distance of 5 kms and 10 kms passing through NIE College, Silk Factory, Five Light Circle, RTO Circle, Fire Brigade, Kukkarahalli Lake, Vishvamanava Double Road, and back to NIE College.

Over 1,000 students, men and women took part in the event. The Marathon was flagged off by Satish, Head Master, School for Deaf and Dumb, Tilak Nagar.

Two visually impaired students Ravi (10th standard) and Nikhil Kumar (8th standard) accompanied Satish. The funds raised by the Marathon will be used to buy sports equipment for Tilak Nagar School.

10 km run: U.R. Sandeep, Shreedhara and S.S. Shoukath Ali Jinna

Women’s category

5 km run: Priyanka Gopi, S. Ashwini and G. Disha

10 Km run: Thippavva Sannakki, T. Kavana and S.L. Sahana

Veterans category

5 km run:  M.M. Nanaiah, K. Mahadevaswamy and  Gubbi Suresh

10 km run: S.N. Harish, Ajit Thandur and V.K. Koul.
