1,000 Village Accountants to be appointed soon: Minister

Bengaluru: Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda said that a notification will be issued for appointment of 1,000 Village Accountants.

Replying to a question by BJP’s Kiran Kumar Kodgi in the Legislative Assembly during question hour in the ongoing Legislature Session here yesterday, Byregowda admitted there is a huge number of vacancies in Revenue Department. Now, CM Siddaramaiah has agreed for appointment of 1,000 Village Accountants, he said.

Stating that the previous BJP Government had sent hundreds of Revenue Department staff to other Departments on deputation, the Minister said this had hampered the functioning of Revenue Department. Now, such deputations will be cancelled, he declared.

Replying to a question by Mahantesh Koujalagi of the Congress, Krishna Byregowda said there is a Rs.10 crore ceiling for construction of new buildings for Taluk Offices. Pointing out that 63 new taluks were declared in 2018, he said that only 14 new taluks got sanction for construction of Taluk Office. As such, the construction of buildings in respect of the remaining 49 taluks has remained pending, he noted. However, the buildings for these 49 taluks will be constructed in a period of three years after the new estimates and architectural specifications are completed, he added.
