104th birth anniversary of JC Wadiyar celebrated in city

Mysore/Mysuru: On account of 104th birth anniversary of erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore Jayachamaraja Wadiyar (JC Wadiyar), Krishnaraja Yuva Balaga offered floral tributes to the statue of the late Maharaja at the Circle by his name in the city and distributed sweets yesterday.

Addressing the gathering, former Mayor and sitting Corporator Ayub Khan said that “Jayachamaraja Wadiyar was a pro-people ruler who embraced democracy after the country became independent and abdicated the throne and became a true Maharaja. He remains as a pro-people ruler in the heart of the people by prioritising the development of his province always on the lines of a democratic system. The main reason behind such noble thoughts was that JC Wadiyar had his schooling among the commoners, which prompted him to always think in favour of the people. He evolved as a ‘People’s Maharaja’ by the time he ascended the throne as he was aware of people’s travails and plight.”

KPCC Member Nazarbad Nataraj said that “JC Wadiyar, who had a special concern for agriculture and farmers, implemented the programmes. By following in the footsteps of his uncle Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, he emerged as a capable successor. The period of reign of JC Wadiyar replete with people-oriented policies still remains a matter of pride to recollect.”
