- President to stay overnight at Radisson Blu Plaza in Mysuru
- Officials from New Delhi conduct mock drill of IAF helicopter
Mysore/Mysuru: President of India Droupadi Murmu, will formally inaugurate seven-day 1066th Jayanti Mahotsava of Adi Jagadguru of Suttur Mutt Sri Shivarathri Shivayogi Swamiji, tomorrow (Dec.16) at 3.15 pm, at Shanti College Grounds in the town. Meanwhile, the Jayanti celebration has begun today.
A huge dais has been built to host the event, being organised on 33-acre vast expanse of the grounds.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Union Minister for Steel and Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy, Agriculture Minister and Mandya District in-Charge N. Cheluvarayaswamy and Malavalli MLA P.M. Narendraswamy, will be participating in the event.
CM Siddaramaiah will also be participating in the valedictory of the Jayanti Mahotsava on Dec. 21.
Security arrangements
In view of the President’s visit, elaborate security arrangements have been made in the town, with about 1,000 Policemen deployed for the same. Four Additional SP rank officers, nine Dy.SPs, 35 Circle Police Inspectors (CPI), 125 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI), six platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) force, eight District Armed Reserve (DAR) Police, three platoons of Quick Reaction Team (QRT), are a part of the security arrangements.
The District Administration has left no stone unturned, to make it a hassle-free visit for the first citizen of the country.
Mock drill
Yesterday, a team of officials from Indian Air Force (IAF), New Delhi, did a mock drill of helicopter, pertaining to the landing and take-off at the helipad, to assess the condition. DC Dr. Kumara, DIGP (Southern Range) Dr. M.B. Boralingaiah and SP Mallikarjun Baladandi were present.
President’s schedule
President Droupadi Murmu will be arriving in IAF flight from New Delhi and touchdown at Mysore Airport in Mandakalli at 2.10 pm.
She will be later travelling in a helicopter to the Marehalli helipad in Malavalli, from where she will travel by road to reach Shanti College Grounds, located at a distance of 4-km from the helipad. The President will be travelling in high-security car, along with elite security personnel.
The vehicular traffic will be blocked for sometime on National Highway (NH), during the President’s arrival.
The banners and buntings and other publicity materials are banned on the route, with all precautionary measures taken from the helipad at Marehalli to the programme venue, via Kollegal and Mysuru road.
Following the event, the President will be flying back to Mysore Airport in Mandakalli at 5.20 pm, in a chopper.
After landing at Mysore Airport, the President will be travelling by road to Hotel Radisson Blu Plaza on M.G. Road in Mysuru city, for overnight stay.
On Dec. 17 at 9.30 am, the President will be departing Mysore Airport in the IAF aircraft.
