108th Ramanavami Heritage Music Festival at Sri Bidaram Krishnappa’s Sri Prasanna Seetharama Mandira

Mysore/Mysuru: The much-awaited 108th Ramanavami Annual Heritage Music Festival of Ganavisharadha Sri Bidaram Krishnappa’s Sri Prasanna Seetharama Mandira is scheduled to commence today (Apr. 17) at its premises on Narayana Shastry Road in city.

The 11-day festival will be inaugurated today at 6 pm by industrialist and philanthropist Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy and will be presided by the President of the institution, R. Guru.

The inauguration will also include release of book in Kannada titled ‘Bidaram Krishnappa – Baduku mattu Sangeetha,’ authored by Dr. Shailaja Venugopal. This will be followed by the inaugural concert with a Grand Recital by Vid. Vivek Moozhikulam from Kerala accompanied by Vidu. Aditi Krishnaprakash on violin, Vid. Sai Giridhar on mridanga and Vid. Rajashekar on morching. The following 10 days will witness grand concerts by a galaxy of eminent musicians from across India. All Concerts commence at 6.30 pm.

Apr. 18: Vid. Mysore Chandan Kumar will present a Karnatak Flute Concert. He will be accompanied by Vid. Nishanth Chandran on violin, Vid. Sai Giridhar on mridanga and Vid. Guruprasanna on kanjira.

Apr. 19: Malladi Brothers (Malladi Sreeramaprasad and Malladi Ravikumar) will be presenting a vocal duet concert accompanied by Vid. Mysore Karthik Nagaraj on violin, Vid. K.V. Prasad on mridanga and Vid. G.S. Ramanujan on ghata.

Apr. 20: Grand Violin Duet Concert by Akkarai Sisters (Akkarai Subhalakshmi and Akkarai Sornalatha). Vid. Arjun Kumar on mridanga and Vid. G.S. Ramanujan on ghata.

Apr. 21: Vidu. M.R. Sudha will present a vocal recital. Vidu. Charulatha Ramanujam – violin, Vid. Arjun Ganesh – mridanga and Vid. Sharath Koushik – ghata.

Apr. 22: Vocal recital by Vid. Abhishek Raghuram with Vid. Mysore Karthik Nagaraj on violin, Vid. Anantha R. Krishnan on mridanga and Vid. Suresh Vaidyanathan on ghata.

Apr. 23: Vidu. Dr. S.V. Sahana and Vid. A.P. Srinivas will present a special Veena-Violin Duet Concert. Vid. Yalla Venkateshwara Rao – mridanga & Vid. Trichy S. Krishnaswamy – ghata.

Apr. 24: Vid. Palghat Ramaprasad will present a vocal recital accompanied by Vid. Gokul Alankode on violin, Vid. Yalla Venkateshwara Rao on mridanga and Vid. Suresh Vaidyanathan on ghata.

Apr. 25: Sangeeth Samrat Vid. Chitraveena Ravikiran will present a Chitraveena Recital accompanied by Vidu. Gayatri Sivani on violin, Vid. Tumkur Ravishankar on mridanga and Vid. Sharath Koushik on ghata.

Apr. 26: Mysore Brothers, Vid. Mysore M. Nagaraj and Dr. M Manjunath, will present a Grand Violin Duet Concert. They will be accompanied by Vid. Neyveli Venkatesh on mridanga and Vid. Trichy Krishnaswamy on ghata.

Apr. 27: Grand Vocal Duet Concert by the RaGa Sisters — Vidushis Ranjani and Gayathri. They will be accompanied by Vid. Vittal Rangan on violin, Vid. Delhi Sairam on mridanga and Vid. Omkar Rao on ghata.

Sri Rama Pattabhisheka will be performed in the morning on Apr. 27 between 10.30 am and 1.30 pm. Entry to concerts is free.

Aradhana

On Apr. 21, from 10 am to 1.30 pm, Sri Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa Aradhana will be held  at the Rama Mandira premises. Senior artistes of Mysuru will present compositions of Saint Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa. This will be followed by Ghosti Gayana of Pancharatna Kritis by musicians and students of music.
