12th National ‘A’ Chess for Visually-Impaired: City’s Shashidhar loses to Ashvin

City’s visually-impaired chess player K.M. Shashidhar, representing Karnataka in the 12th National ‘A’ Chess Tournament for Visually-impaired at Mumbai yesterday lost his sixth round tie to K. Makwana Ashvin.

After six rounds, Shashidhar has secured 2.5 points and is placed 10th in rankings. In first round, Shashidhar (rating 1550) lost to Karnataka’s Kishan Gangoli, while in second round he suffered a loss against Shirish Patil. In third round, Shashidhar drew with Amit Deshpande and in the fourth round beat Swapnil Shah. In the fifth round, Shashidhar beat Krishna Udupa.

After six rounds, K. Ashvin Makwana (GUJ) and Aryan B. Joshi (MAH) are tied with 5 points each and are placed one and two in the rankings. In the third place is Kishan Gangoli (KAR) with 4.5 points.
