133rd Foundation Day of ORI, Mysore: Sanskrit book ‘Alankara-sudhanidhi’ released

Mysuru: On the occasion of 133rd Foundation Day celebrations of Oriental Research Institute (ORI), University of Mysore, a one-day National Seminar on Sathya Bhadra Kruthi Sameeksha and the release of Sanskrit book Alankara-sudhanidhi, was organised at Vijnana Bhavan auditorium, Manasagangothri in city this morning.

Presiding over the seminar, University of Mysore Vice-Chancellor Prof. N.K. Lokanath said, Alankarasudhanidhi, a scholarly work was authored by Sayanacharya, a scholar of repute who came to prominence during the reign of Vijayanagar kings Hakka-Bukka and Harihara.

The literary work is related to Alankarashastra, which was in the collection of ORI. Following the efforts of ORI Director Dr. D.P. Madhusudanacharya, Vidwan Dr. R. Ganesh and his disciple Dr. B.N. Shashikiran have published the book. They have also borne the expenditure of over Rs. 3 lakh on printing the book, as a mark of respect towards Sayanacharya.

Website upgraded

The refurbished and upgraded website of ORI — www.orimysore.com — was inaugurated on the occasion.

VC Prof. Lokanath also expressed his gratitude to Sri Yadugiri Yathiraja Narayana Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji, the 41st Pontiff of Sri Yadugiri Yathiraja Mutt, Melukote, for making time to be a part of the event, by travelling all the way from Bengaluru to Mysuru.

University of Mysore Registrar V.R. Shylaja, Finance Officer K.S. Rekha, Director of ORI Dr. D.P. Madhusudanacharya were present.
