141 prisoners, including 23 in Mysuru Jail released for good conduct

Bengaluru:  A total of 141 prisoners in the State, including 23 in Mysuru Central Jail were released yesterday for good conduct,  after the Governor approved their release.

The released prisoners were serving life terms at different prisons in the State. Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai who attended a programme at Parappana Agrahara Jail in Bengaluru yesterday distributed kits to the prisoners who walked free. Out of the 141 prisoners, 71 had been lodged in Parappana Agrahara Jail, 23 in Mysuru Central Jail, 11 each in Ballari and Dharwad Jails, 6 in Vijayapura Jail, 5 in Belagavi Jail and the rest 14 in other Jails.

Prisons Department, in association with Bengaluru’s Mindtree Foundation and Radio City FM 91.1, is establishing a FM Station at Parappana Agrahara Jail, while San City Solutions is organising various skill training programmes for Jail inmates.
