The Tashi Lhunpo Cultural Society, based in Bylakuppe in Mysuru district, has announced that His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama will arrive at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Bylakuppe in December 2026 for a stay of nearly two months.
The monastery administration said, it had received confirmation from the Office of His Holiness and described the announcement as a matter of immense joy and gratitude for the Tibetan community.
The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for devotees and members of the Tibetan community to receive teachings and blessings from the Dalai Lama. The Dalai Lama’s extended stay is also expected to draw a large number of devotees and visitors to Bylakuppe, one of the major Tibetan settlements in India.
The monastery administration has begun preparations for the visit, including arrangements for devotees, security and cultural programmes during his stay.
The Society said, the visit would be significant for the Tibetan community and would also highlight the settlement’s role as a centre of Tibetan culture and learning in India.
