1,500 saplings planted at Railway Hospital

Mysore/Mysuru: South Western Railway (SWR), Mysuru Division, has partnered with Schneider Electric India Private Limited and an NGO, Communitree, to  plant 1,500 tree saplings at Railway Hospital premises in city.

The Railways undertake extensive plantation drive every year. Besides increasing the green cover over the Railway land, planting of saplings and harvesting of mature trees is a continuous process.

On Saturday last, SWR Mysuru Division planted 1,500 saplings at the Divisional Railway Hospital, Mysuru.

Saplings of 10 different indigenous species of tree namely Neem, Jamun, Guava, Mango, Mahogani, Rosewood, Fig etc., were planted. The drive is aimed to create a self-sustained dense microforest and make city greener, cleaner and reduce carbon footprint.

The event was inaugurated by Amit Kumar, Vice-President and SBU Head MPS, Schneider Electric India Private Limited while Devasahayam, ADRM, was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, they emphasised  the commitment of Schneider Electric India and Indian Railways respectively toward greener and cleaner environment.
