Mysuru: City’s 7th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 10,000 after the Court found him guilty of murdering two women.
The man was also sentenced to an additional three years in jail and a fine of Rs. 5,000 was imposed on him on charges of destroying evidence.
The man, who was sentenced for life is Rangaswamy alias Kariya, a resident of Bilugali village in Nanjangud taluk.
Rangaswamy, who came to know that his wife was having an affair with his neighbour Rajesh, went to the latter’s house to question him during which Rangaswamy was abused with foul language and was humiliated.
Angered over this, Rangaswamy, on June 15, 2022 at about 1.30 pm, hacked Rangaswamy’s mother and sister Mani with a machete, pushed the bodies into Addahalla waters in a bid to destroy evidence, robbed the gold ornaments from the dead bodies and had pawned them at the pawn shop belonging to one Mahendra Kumar Jain in T. Narasipur.
The then Nanjangud Inspector Lakshmikanth Talawar, who investigated the case, had submitted the chargesheet to the Court.
Judge M. Ramesh, who took up the case, heard the arguments from both sides, found Rangaswamy guilty of committing the crime and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Public Prosecutor K. Nagaraj argued on behalf of the Government.
