Davanagere: The 24th Convention of Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva-Lingayat Mahasabha will take place at MBA College grounds in Davanagere on Dec. 23 and 24.
Announcing this at a press meet after the Mahasabha’s preliminary meeting here on Friday, the Mahasabha’s National General Secretary Eshwar Khandre, who is also the Karnataka Forest Minister, said that the Convention will discuss OBC Reservation for Veerashaiva-Lingayat community, the challenges faced by the community etc. Seers of Suttur Mutt, Siddaganga Mutt and a host of other Seers of the community will be invited for the event, he said adding that more than 10 lakh people are expected to take part in the meet.
Pointing out that the Convention usually takes place once in five years for three days, Khandre said that the Convention has been limited to two days this time due to drought situation in the State. The event will feature Sessions on women, youth, farmers etc., he said adding that a souvenir would be brought out on the occasion.
Mahasabha National President and MLA Shamanur Shivashankarappa, Vice-President N. Thippanna, former IPS Officer Shankar Bidari and former Legislative Council Chairman Veeranna Mattikatti were present.
