25 pairs participate in National Wrestling Tournament in city

The National-level Wrestling Tournament, organised by K.R. Mohankumar Mithra Balaga at D. Devaraja Urs Multi-purpose Stadium in city yesterday, saw 25 pairs of wrestlers participating in the event.

The Mar-Pit (fight till the finish) bout between Dheeraj Pawar of Kolhapur and Rohil Kumar of Ladpur created curiosity among the spectators going by the rage and vigour at the start but gradually dragged on to end in a tie.

However, the one-hour fight between Rarkesh Khali of Haryana and Naveen Mor of Delhi was very closely contested bout with Rarkesh ultimately winning the bout and receiving a silver mace.

In the deciding bouts, Gopi (Thonachikoppal) beat Rishad (Sindhuvalli) and J. Bharat (Haryana) beat Sikhander Sheikh (Kolhapur).

Former MUDA Chairman K.R. Mohan Kumar inaugurated the event. BJP leaders H.V. Rajeev, Phaneesh and others were present on the occasion.
