Mysore/Mysuru: Following the publication of the news item titled ‘IPS Officer files dowry harassment case’ in Star of Mysore dated Feb. 8, 2021, on page 4, Swaty Singh Malik, advocate for Niteen Yeola, IFS, has issued the clarification as below:

“The FIR registered against my client Mr. Yeola is completely malicious, false and an afterthought in pursuance of the legal proceedings initiated by Mr. Yeola. They have been living separately since March 2019 and the FIR has been filed after more than 2 years in Bengaluru where Mrs. Katiyar is posted as a senior Police officer.  We have filed a Petition seeking Divorce on behalf of Mr. Yeola in the Hon’ble Family Court, New Delhi in June 2020, which includes request for access to the minor child Ayaan.

“The Hon’ble Court in the said proceedings directed Mrs. Katiyar to allow Mr. Yeola to speak to Ayaan on alternate weekends. However, Mrs. Katiyar refused to comply with the said Court Order.

“Subsequently, we have filed a Contempt Petition in the Hon’ble Delhi High Court in December 2020 which is pending adjudication.

“The F.I.R. as an afterthought was filed during the pendency of the said Contempt Proceedings. As far as merits of the case are concerned, we will refrain from any statement as the matter is sub-judice.”
