Mysuru: “Most important aspect of success is attitude which decides your altitude,” said Sampathkumar B. Aratti, Vice- President & Head of HR for APAC and Chief People Officer, Lapp Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, Singapore.
He was delivering keynote address on ‘Navigating Industry 5.0 for Sustainability and Inclusive Progress’, during 2nd International Conference on Leadership organised by Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), in collaboration with Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC), SDM-IMD Centre for Management Excellence, in the city recently.
Aratti said, “Industry 5.0 also called as the fifth industrial revolution reflects a shift in focus from an economic approach to a focus on social value and well-being. It is a new phase of industrialisation in which humans work together with advanced technology and AI driven robots to improve processes at work.”
He mentioned that 85% of the jobs that will exist in 2030 haven’t been invented yet and AI automation and machine learning are rapidly reshaping job market. With regards to a good leader, Aratti said one needs to understand emotions of employee.
“The multiple Ph.Ds and papers that we write are of not much significance; I am not saying that they are not important, in fact at the age of 50 I started doing Ph.D, I do respect Ph.Ds but what is most important is, with Ph.D we should also understand what the organisation requires. A Manager need not necessarily be a leader, that needs a lot of competence, focus and many things. Apart from this, inner focus also helps leaders to be most successful.”
Dr. S.N. Prasad, Director, SDMIMD, highlighted role of leadership in building sustainable and forward-thinking organisations. The conference began with a briefing by Dr. Mamta Hegde, Conference Chair, SDMIMD.
The valedictory session was addressed by Savitha Mallappa, Director and Co-Founder of rProcess Outsourcing Services Pvt. Ltd., Mysuru.
