Three players GM R.R. Laxman, Syed Anwar Shazali and GM V. Vishnuprasanna tied with eight points from nine rounds, but on the basis of his better tie-break score of 56.5 to the latter’s 52.5 & 51.5 respectively, GM R.R. Laxman clinched the title.
Syed Anwar finished second while GM Vishnuprasanna with 8 points secured third place.
FM S.V. Srinath Rao (7.5 points-50.5) finished fourth, while Gavi Siddaiah and GM Thejkumar with 7.5 points each finished from fifth and sixth respectively.
