Mysore/Mysuru: The three-day Tribal Dance Festival that was organised in Mysuru to mark the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People concluded yesterday at Rangayana premises.

The festival was inaugurated on the Karnataka State Open University campus and later it was taken to Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University and then brought to Rangayana.

At Rangayana, the dance festival was inaugurated at B.V. Karanth Ranga Chavadi by Rangayana Director Addanda C. Cariappa and Karnataka Exhibition Authority Chairman Mirle Srinivasagowda.

Mirle Srinivasagowda recalled the time when tribals were given space at the Dasara Exhibition Grounds to perform their unique dances and other cultural events. This year too, space will be given to the tribals to perform and spread the beauty of their culture in the urban area, he assured.

On the occasion, tribal dancers presented eye-catching dances like the Abujhmadiya dance of Chhattisgarh tribals, Banjara dance of Maharashtra, Karma Saila dance of tribals from Madhya Pradesh and Mathuri dance of Telangana tribals. Tribals from Karnataka presented Damani Siddi dance, Jenukuruba dance and Dollu Kunitha.
