3 FIRs registered against JD(S) for violating poll code

Mandya: Three FIR has been registered against JD(S)-Congress Coalition candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy in Mandya West Police Station, for violating election code of conduct during his nominations filing on Monday.

Based on the complaint lodged by Flying Squad Officer Ravi, Police have registered a case against JD(S) for damaging the public property to the tune of Rs.8 lakh under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984 IPC column 427.  

The official alleged that the JD(S) activists had destroyed ornamental plants, pots, flower pots, fountain and disconnected the power supply, removed the fencing poles and damaged the lawn at ‘Cauvery Vana’ when they gathered to file the nomination papers.

Another Flying Squad Officer Sudhama from Kasabha-1 Division had filed the complaint against JD(S) activists for cracking fireworks, using confetti blaster and flowers sparklers at Sanjaya Circle, without taking valid permission from competent authorities.

In a yet another case, Police have also registered a case against JD(S) activists for obstructing the traffic movement between 2.30 pm and 4 pm on busy Mysuru-Bengaluru Highway  near ‘Cauvery Vana’ during nomination filing based on a complaint filed by Flying Squad Officer Sudhama.
