3 youths arrested for traffic violation, ganja possession

May 16, 2017

Mysuru: When the City Police chased and intercepted a car for traffic violations and over-speeding yesterday, they were in for a surprise as they recovered banned Marijuana (ganja) inside the vehicle and also found that the occupants of the car had smoked the weed.

The youths, who were under the influence of weed, have been identified as Likhit and Azad of K.R. Mohalla and Chandru of Dattagalli. A case has been booked against them at the Devaraja Police.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) N. Rudramuni was on city rounds yesterday and he found a car (KA-45-2891) parked on a road near K.R. Circle (Thathaiah Park) obstructing traffic flow.

He asked the occupants of the vehicle to remove the car and park at a designated parking space. Despite the DCP warning the car driver thrice, the car was not removed.

Later, the DCP sent his gunman near the car and he asked the occupants to move away from the road.

Rudramuni, meanwhile, alerted the Traffic Cops near the K.R. Circle to check the documents of the car. As the Policemen approached the car, the driver panicked and started the vehicle and haphazardly sped towards Devaraja Urs Road.

The car, while fleeing from the Police, violated traffic rules and the Police team began chasing the vehicle and managed to intercept the vehicle near Maharani’s College Junction.

When the Police searched the car, they found 100 grams of ganja and also found that all the three persons inside the car, including the driver, had smoked the weed. The youths were later arrested and were handed over to the Devaraja Police.
