32nd South Zone Swimming Championship 2020: City swimmer strikes gold

Thanya becomes first Mysurean to win Gold in the history of South Zone Championship

Mysuru’s S. Thanya, representing Karnataka in the 32nd South Zone Aquatic Championship – 2019 organised by Telangana Swimming Association at the CMC Balayogi Aquatic Complex, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, from Jan. 3 to 5, won Gold Medal in 4×50 mts Medley Relay with a timing of 2:27.13s in the Group IV Girls section.

With this, Thanya became the first Mysurean to win Gold in the history of South Zone Championship. Thanya was part of the gold-winning team that included Bengaluru swimmers Priyanshi Mishra, Dhinidi Desinghu and Monya Kousumi.

Thanya, a 5th standard student of Sharada Public School, Dattagalli, is the daughter of N. Shwetha (an employee at Somani College) and S.P. Shadakshari (a businessman).

She is trained at J.P. Nagar Swimming Pool, Mysuru, by Pavan Kumar of Global Sports Association.
