Mysuru: The Department of Community Medicine, JSS Medical College, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), has organised the 34th Annual State Conference ‘KACHCON-2024’ on Nov. 14 and 15, in association with Karnataka Association of Community Health (KACH), at Sri Rajendra Auditorium, JSS Medical College, Mysuru. Three parallel pre-Conference Workshops will be held on Nov. 13.
Announcing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city yesterday, JSS AHER VC (in-charge) and JSS Medical College Principal Dr. H. Basavana Gowdappa said that the theme of the Conference is ‘Empowering Lives: A Holistic Approach to Good Health and Well-being.’
Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji will inaugurate the Conference on Nov. 14 at 11 am. National Academy of Medical Sciences Secretary Dr. Umesh Kapil will be the chief guest. JSS AHER Registrar Dr. B. Manjunatha will be the guest of honour. KACH Secretary Dr. T.S. Ranganath and KACH President Dr. G. Ajay Kumar will be present.
United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal-3 (SDG-3) aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, at all ages. Ensuring good health and well-being of the population is the cornerstone for a country’s sustained growth and development. The Health System in India has been striving to ensure good health and well-being of the population through a multi-pronged approach by providing promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative health services that are easily accessible and affordable to all. Although considerable progress has been made in this regard, further scaling up of efforts through research, policy reforms, innovations with adequate community participation is the need of the hour.
The 34th Annual Conference of Karnataka Association of Community Health KACHCON 2024 intends to bring together key stakeholders and experts from academic, research, policy and public health administrative sectors to deliberate on situational analysis, fixing priorities, best practices, thrust areas of research and strategies to achieve SDG 3 through strategic partnerships, strengthening health systems and policy reforms.
It may be noted that JSS AHER has been ranked World’s No.1 in Sustainable Development Goal-3 in Times Higher Education Impact Ranking 2024.
More than 350 delegates from various parts of India and 32 renowned resource persons from reputed institutes in India will be participating in the event. The Conference will provide an academic feast and exchange of scientific ideas in the form of scientific presentations and interactions. There will be deliberations on gaps, challenges and solutions to achieving SDG-3.
Three parallel pre-Conference Workshops are also organised on Nov. 13 starting from 10 am. Topics include Geographic Information System, Statistical Analysis and Research Grant Writing. The sessions of the workshops are handled by the faculty of JSS Medical College, JSS AHER and other prestigious premier medical institutions.
