Mysuru-lad Girish A. Koushik taking part in the 3rd Rail Wheel Factory International Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament 2017 at Bengaluru, won his sixth round against A. Balkishan of Karnataka. He has scored 5.5 points from six rounds and is eighth in the rankings.
After 6 rounds, three players-Karnataka’s Viani Antonia Dcuna, Audi Ameya (GOA) and GM R.R. Laxman (ICF) share the lead with 6 points each. K. Gunasekaran (ICF) and S. Bartakke Amardeep (MAH) are placed fourth and fifth with 5.5 points. Earlier in the fifth round, Girish A. Koushik was held to a draw by P. Jagadish. Another Mysuru player V.P.S. Darshan has secured 4.5 points is placed 55th in the ranking.
