4 Air Sqn. NCC Cadets and ex-Cadets take up cleaning work at Chamundi Hill

Mysuru: In a unique gesture of giving back to their alma mater as well as to the society, the ex-Cadets of No. 4 Kar Air Sqn NCC, along with the current Cadets and staff of the NCC Squadron, took up the solid waste and cleaning work on Chamundi Hill on Sept. 10.

In all, 150 Cadets, along with a few NSS volunteers took part in the drive co-ordinated by Group Capt. Remala, Commanding Officer of the Squadron.

The group cleaned the Chamundi Hill road from arch till the gate clearing the thick growth on either side. They also planted tree saplings and flowering plants, which would be taken care of by them. Later they cleared plastic debris and waste with the help of Pourakarmikas of Chamundi Hill Gram Panchayat in the first phase.

As part of the second phase, these Cadets cleared dry batteries in one of the spots on way to Chamundi Hill. They also cleared plastic from one of the View Points.

In the third phase, they created awareness by handing out roses to the public and shop-keepers to share the message of clean India, green India.

Some of the ex-Cadets, who came from varied backgrounds, had done their NCC nearly 30 years ago.

Among the ex-Cadets, there was an Additional Deputy Commissioner and a Deputy Commissioner for Labour Department, entrepreneurs, business owners, techies, a professor and from many other fields.

The activity for the team of ex-Cadets were coordinated by Uma with help from Dr. Shiva Prasad, Girish, Dinesh Nayak and Sunil among others. Sgt. Dagar from the NCC Squadron coordinated the activity.

They also received help from Chamundi Hill Gram Panchayat President, Vice-President and Members, Pourakarmikas, K.R. Police Inspector Prakash and MCC Commissioner G.Jagadeesha. Retd AMIE Nagraj, current AMIE Ravi, ANO Mali were among those present.
