4 held for stealing railway track iron

1,707 kg rail tracks, one concrete mixing machine and one passenger autorickshaw, all worth Rs. 3.60 lakh recovered

Mysuru: Metagalli Police have arrested four persons on charges of stealing railway tracks and concrete mixing machine and have recovered the 1,707 kg railway track iron, one concrete mixing machine besides seizing one passenger auto, all worth Rs. 3.60 lakh from them.

On Aug. 27, a complaint pertaining to theft of a concrete mixing machine being used to mix concrete for drain works at Basaveshwaranagar 2nd Cross, was lodged at Metagalli Police Station.

On Aug. 29 morning, when Metagalli Police were conducting their patrolling, they saw a yellow colour Tata Ace vehicle without the registration number plate loaded with railway track and a concrete mixing machine tied with a rope and stopped the vehicle. When the Cops began to question those in the vehicle, they tried to flee but were caught and taken into custody for questioning.

During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of 60 railway tracks kept above the underpass near Royal Inn Junction, concrete mixer at Basaveshwaranagar and a passenger auto at Bogadi along with two others.

The Police, based on the information, arrested two other accused on Aug. 29 and interrogated them, thus solving one case each in Saraswathipuram Police Station, Metagalli Police Station and Railway Protection Force Station.

Based on the information provided by the accused, the Police have recovered the stolen booty worth Rs. 3.60 lakh from them.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) S. Jahnavi and Vijayanagar Sub-Division ACP Gajendra Prasad guided Metagalli Inspector R. Diwakar, Sub-Inspector V.R. Shabareesh, ASIs Joseph Noronha and S. Mahadeva and staff Krishna, K.N. Harish, S.G. Manika, Parashuram, Prathap, Vittal, Nagaraju, Mahesh & Nandeesh, in the nabbing and seizing operation.
