Minister S.T. Somashekar submitting a memorandum, on behalf of Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda, to Energy Minister Sunil Kumar at Government Guest House in Nazarbad in Mysuru yesterday, seeking 400/220 KV Power Station for Kabini Project at Bidaragodu, as others look on.

Mysore/Mysuru: Minister in charge of Mysuru district S.T. Somashekar on Wednesday urged his Cabinet colleague, Energy Minister V. Sunil Kumar to set up a 400/220 KV Power Station at Bidaragodu Pumping Station in the taluk from where Kabini water is pumped to Mysuru for supply of drinking water to parts of the city.

Somashekar, who met Sunil Kumar at the Government Guest House in Nazarbad here yesterday, submitted a memorandum in this regard on behalf of Chamundeshwari MLA G.T. Devegowda (GTD) and sought his immediate intervention to upgrade the existing Power Station to 400/220 KV.

Pointing out that KUWS&DB (Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board) is implementing the Bidaragodu drinking water project and at present only 60 MLD (Million Litres per Day) of water is being pumped, he said that the linking of Bidaragodu with the 400/220 KV power transmission line was necessary for pumping 180 MLD of  Kabini water to Mysuru city.

Somashekar also demanded a 66 KV line for Bidaragodu Jackwell, Kembalu Water Treatment Plant and the Intermediate Pumping Station at Pinjrapole and three sub-stations.

GTD also met Energy Minister Sunil Kumar and appealed to take immediate steps for establishment of sub-stations at five places in Mysuru city and the district for improving electricity transmission. Sub-stations sought are at D. Salundi, Udbur, Marashettihalli, Vasanthanagar and K. Hemmanhalli, besides a 400 KV Transmission Station at Kadakola.

Pointing out that Kadakola has now turned into a Town Panchayat, GTD requested the Minister to direct the KPTCL to part with its land at Kadakola for the construction of Town Panchayat building. The MLA wanted the KPTCL to handover 2-acre-and-2-guntas of land coming under Kadakola Survey No. 106 to the newly formed Kadakola Town Panchayat.

MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev, KPTCL and CESC officials and others were present.
