“This year, with the upward revision (3 %) of taxes, the MCC hopes to generate a revenue of Rs. 265 crores from Property tax alone. The property owners can avail of the 5 percent rebate till Apr. 30. After this deadline ends, property tax will be collected without any rebate till June. 30 and from July.1, the property tax collection comes with a penalty of 2 percent every month. Two dedicated counters have been opened at all the 9 Zonal offices to ease the rush,” Somashekar said and appealed the citizens to utilise this 5 percent rebate opportunity for paying up their annual property tax to the civic body. Drinking water, shelter (Pendal) and adequate seating arrangements have been made at all the Zonal offices for the comfort of tax payers, he added.
