The 5th edition of the Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty All India Basketball Tournament, organised by Vijaya Bank, is all set to tip off on Aug.22 at the Beagles Indoor Basketball Stadium, Malleswaram, Bengaluru.
The Tournament will witness some of India’s top men’s sides go head to head featuring some of the best talent Indian basketball has to offer.
Hosts Vijaya Bank will be led by international star forward Arvind Arumugam who led the Indian team in scoring the recently concluded third window of the World Cup Qualifiers.
The other participating teams are Indian Customs (Pune), Income Tax (Chennai), Integral Coach Factory (Chennai), Indian Navy (Lonavala), Telangana State Team and the Karnataka State team.
The Tournament will be played in a league-cum-knockout format, with the seven teams divided into two groups, and the top two of each group will qualify for the semi-finals.
Post the inauguration ceremony at 5 pm, the matches for the day will commence from 5.15 pm.
Along with trophies, cash prizes of Rs.1,00,000 for the winners, Rs.50,000 for the runners-up, and Rs.25,000 and Rs.10,000 for the 3rd and 4th place teams respectively, have been announced by Vijaya Bank. Besides these, awards such as the ‘Best player of the tournament’, ‘Most promising player’ and ‘Best defensive player’ are up for grabs.
