Mysuru: All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), established in 1965, for human resource development, research, clinical services and public education in the field of communication disorders, will be celebrating its 61st anniversary tomorrow (Aug. 10).
The 61st Annual Day celebrations of AIISH will be held tomorrow at AIISH Seminar Hall, Knowledge Park, Naimisham Campus, Manasagangothri. Trishikha Kumari Wadiyar of Mysore Royal Family and Prof. M. Krishnegowda, retired Kannada Professor, will be the chief guests. Dr. M. Pushpavathi, Director, AIISH, will preside.
On this occasion, the newly initiated ‘Person-Centred Unit for Neurorehabilitation (Punarjeevan)’ at Centre of Excellence (COE), AIISH, will be inaugurated by Trishikha Kumari Wadiyar at 10.30 am.
‘Punarjeevan’ is a pioneering technology-enabled neurorehabilitation unit dedicated to restoring function in stroke and neurological conditions. It’s equipped with advanced rehabilitation technologies — including robotic gait training, balance rehabilitation systems, digital cognitive-linguistic therapy, neuromodulation, and task-oriented rehabilitation. This unit offers one of the most comprehensive neurorehabilitation facilities of its kind in the country.
The Annual Day will be celebrated through a public function at 2 pm, in the Seminar Hall, Knowledge Park. Success stories, Assessment materials, Intervention tools, Public education Pamphlets and learning materials related to communication disorders developed at the institute will be released. Felicitations of retired employees of AIISH and employees who completed 25 years of service at AIISH as well as presentation of ‘AIISHian of the Year Award-2026’ will also be held on this occasion.
The formal proceedings will be followed by a vibrant and spellbinding cultural extravaganza at 3.30 pm. Students and staff of the institute will showcase their multifaceted talents through an impressive line-up of performances, including classical and contemporary dance performances, soul-stirring musical renditions and thought-provoking theatrical acts highlighting social themes.
