642 CESC staff behind Dasara’s dazzling glow

Mysuru: The dazzling illumination that transforms Mysuru during Nada Habba Dasara is backed by the work of 642 officers and staff of the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC), who have been deployed to oversee the arrangements this year.

While the illuminated Mysore Palace, roads and major circles draw lakhs of visitors, CESC personnel work behind the scenes to ensure smooth functioning of the lighting systems throughout the festivities.

Of the 642 personnel assigned to illumination duties, 323 are from the N.R. Mohalla Division, 243 from the V.V. Mohalla Division and 76 are deputation staff.

The technical team includes 16 Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs), 50 Assistant Engineers (AEs) and 56 Junior Engineers (JEs). Meter Readers, Operators, Overseers, Mechanics, Assistant Storekeepers, Line Mechanics and Power Men from various categories are also involved in the work.

The illumination arrangements have been completed under the guidance of Energy Minister K.J. George, with MLA and CESC Chairman Ramesh Bandisiddegowda and Managing Director M.S. Archana overseeing the efforts.

Technical Director L. Lokesh, Mysuru Circle Superintending Engineer Sunil Kumar and Executive Engineers Madesh and Sandeep have also played key roles in supervising and managing the work.

The responsibility of ensuring uninterrupted and safe illumination during Dasara involves technical inspections, regular monitoring and prompt attention to any electrical issues.

The scale of the arrangements calls for careful planning, coordination and strict adherence to safety measures.

While the dazzling colourful lights add uniqueness to the festive charm of Mysuru and enhance the experience of visitors, the efforts of the CESC officers and staff working behind the scenes remain an important part of the celebrations, said CESC Managing Director (MD) M.S. Archana.
