Felicitation to Padma Shri T.K. Murthy on Sept. 18
Mysuru: Sri Prasanna Vidya Ganapathi Mahotsava Charitable Trust (SPVGMC Trust), popularly known as 8th Cross Ganesha, is celebrating its 65th year of cultural service.
For six-and-a-half decades, SPVGMC Trust has been playing an important role in preserving, nurturing and taking Indian classical music and traditional cultural heritage to the public. It has provided a prestigious platform to several generations of eminent artistes from Karnatak and Hindustani music and encouraged young and emerging artistes.
The 65th Heritage Music Festival is being organised as a special milestone celebration and is also dedicated to the extraordinary genius of legendary flautist T.R. Mahalingam, popularly remembered as Flute Mali, on the occasion of his birth centenary in 2026.
The 13-day event will be held from Sept. 14 to 27, with the daily programmes commencing at 6.45 pm, except for the special morning programmes on the concluding day.
SEPTEMBER 14
The festival will commence with a Nadaswara presentation by Vid. Mysore Vijay Surya, accompanied by Vid. Tumkur Yashaswee on violin, Vid. Vikram Bharadwaj on mridanga and Vid. Shamit Gowda on ghata.
SEPTEMBER 15
The formal inauguration of 65th Heritage Music Festival will take place with Historian Raja Chandra as chief guest and Vid. Ambi Subramaniam as guest. Art patron and Trust President Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy will preside
It will be followed by a violin concert by Vid. Ambi Subramaniam, accompanied by Vid. Akshay Anand on mridanga and Vid. Rajashekar on morching.
SEPTEMBER 16
Hindustani classical vocal music concert by Padma Shri Pt. Venkatesh Kumar, accompanied by Pt. Narendra Nayak – harmonium and Pt. Keshav Joshi – tabla.
SEPTEMBER 17
Flute concert by Vid. Shashank Subramanyam, accompanied by Vid. Nishant Chandran on violin, Vid. B.C. Manjunath on mridanga and Vid. S. Ramanujam on ghata.
SEPTEMBER 18
An important highlight of the 65th year celebration is the felicitation to Padma Shri, Sangeeta Kalanidhi T.K. Murthy by art patron Dr. Jagannath Shenoy in the presence of Vid. T.M. Krishna.
It will be followed by a vocal concert by Vid. T.M. Krishna, accompanied by Vid. Trivandrum Sampath on violin, Vid. B. Sivaraman on mridanga and Vid. Guruprasad on ghata.

The final day is dedicated to spiritual and Vedic activities.
From 6 am to 8 am, Nagara Sankeertana will be conducted by Dr. Sunitha Chandrakumar and students of Raghuleela School of Music.
From 8 am to 12.30 pm, a special ‘Rudrakshi Homa’ will be performed by Vedic Scholars M.S. Venugopal and M.S. Srinivasan (Challakere Brothers).
The concluding Vedic programme gives the 13-day Heritage Music Festival a spiritually significant culmination.
Gamaka programmes
As part of Heritage Music Festival, the following singing and Gamaka Vaachana-Vyakyana programmes will be held from 5.30 pm to 6.45 pm:
Sept. 16: ‘Deepalakshmi,’ songs written by Pu.Thi.Na will be rendered by Dr. Sunitha Chandrakumar and students of Raghuleela School of Music.
Sept. 17: Folk songs by Vidu. Rekha Venkatesh and disciples of Sharada Kala Kendra, Kuvempunagar, Mysuru.
Sept. 18: ‘Jaimini Bharata Mayuradhwaja Prasanga’ Vaachana by Vidu. Dakshayani and Vyakhyana by Dr. A. Niranjana.
Sept. 19: ‘Kannada Bhagavata Vaamanaavataara’ Vaachana by Vidu. Dhruti Bhat and Vyakhyana by Vid. Narayana Desai.
