Mysuru: To mark World Blood Donor Day, the Health Centre of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Central Food Technological Research Institute (CSIR-CFTRI), Mysuru, had organised a voluntary blood donation camp recently.
The camp was conducted in association with Jeevadhara Lions Blood Bank, Mysuru, at the IFTTC Auditorium on the institute campus. The event followed an awareness programme on the importance of voluntary blood donation. Both programmes were inaugurated by CSIR-CFTRI Director Dr. Giridhar Parvatam.
The blood donation camp, organised for the first time at the institute, witnessed enthusiastic participation from the CFTRI community. A total of 67 donors, including staff members, students and contractual employees, voluntarily donated blood.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to all donors in recognition of their contribution. Jeevadhara Lions Blood Bank also honoured the CSIR-CFTRI Health Centre with a certificate of appreciation for mobilising 67 units of blood through the camp.
Among those present were Girish, Director of Jeevadhara Lions Blood Bank, Mysuru, Dr. Avilash Sumithra Rani, Medical Officer and other staff members of the blood bank.
