6th Convocation of JSS Science and Technology University held

Grow using new technologies, AICTE Chairman tells students

Mysore/Mysuru: As many as 1,663 students received degrees in their respective disciplines at the 6th Convocation of JSS Science and Technology University held at the JSS Technical Institutions complex in Manasagangothri here on Saturday.

Speaking as the chief guest at the Convocation, All India Council for Technical Education  (AICTE) Chairman Prof. T.G. Sitharam opined that there may be uncertainty of jobs in some sectors due to latest technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). But fresh graduates and youths need not be disturbed over it and take it as a challenge to find new ways for achieving growth and stability in their professional careers, he said. Pointing out that there are ample opportunities in Coding, AI, Data Science, Robotics etc., Prof. Sitharam said that the AICTE has started new courses in these subjects that will enable students to learn them in an open atmosphere. The students should develop skills in keeping with the courses that they are learning, he added.

Continuing, he said “ We have to come out of concerns that we will be losing something due to newer innovations. We should walk along with the latest technologies. At the same time, we have to accept new innovations and discoveries with an open mind. This will help us keep our learning attitude  always alive.”

Maintaining that India is soon going to become the world’s third biggest economy, he said that new start-ups have been making giant strides towards achieving success. As such, our educational institutions should give prominence to  promote innovations and skills, for which academic experts, students, investors, industry partners and all other stakeholders  should join hands for making organised efforts in this regard, he pointed out.

As many as 1,060 BE, 47 BCA, 123 M.Tech, 117 MCA, 51 M.Sc, 256 MBA and 9 P.hD degrees were awarded to a total of 1,663 students. Also, 32 top ranking students were presented gold medals, while 31 other students were presented with various endowment awards on the occasion. Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, who is also the Chancellor of the University, graced the occasion.

University Vice-Chancellor Prof. A.N. Santosh Kumar, Registrar S.A. Dhanraj, JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Technical Education Director B. Suresh and others were present.
