7th Annual Thok Namme held at Napoklu

Napoklu (Kodagu): The 7th Annual Thok Namme (Gun Carnival) was held under the aegis of Codava National Council (CNC) on the banks of River Cauvery at Appachira Rammy Nanaiah’s Cauvery Estate located at Kolakeri here on Dec.18.

The event was organised to mark World Minorities Rights Day. Kodava men and women dressed in their traditional attire took part in the Annual Gun Carnival.

The event was organised to exhibit Kodava Martial Traits and to herald the inherent, birth, fundamental and Constitutional Rights to retain guns without license under Sections 3&4 of Indian Arms Act and to reiterate guns to be most revered religio-cultural emblem and gallantry symbol of Kodavas.

The members, headed by CNC President N.U. Nachappa, offered mass worship for the guns on the occasion. This was followed by Thok Paat (folklore weapon prayer).

Later, shooting competitions were held for men, women and children for which the prizes were distributed during the valedictory function. The members were also treated with tasty traditional cuisines.

Kaliyanda Prakash welcomed. Ajjikuttira Lokesh proposed a vote of thanks. Bachiraniyanda Chippanna compered and Nandineravanda Nisha Achaiah rendered the Thok Paat.
