Mysuru: Four new meet records (two each in men’s and women’s section), were set on the first day of the three-day 89th University of Mysore Inter-collegiate Athletic Meet 2017-18 conducted by the Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore at the University Oval Athletic Ground (Oval Ground) here yesterday.
Boby Sabu of Basudeva Somani FGC, hogged the limelight by erasing the 54-year old Triple Jump record in the men’s section, by leaping to a new record distance of 15.22m and erasing the old record of 14.95m set by M.A. Cariyappa of Maharaja’s College, Mysuru in 1963-64.
- Sagar of Basudeva Somani FGC set a new meet record in the men’s 110m Hurdles event with a timing of 14.91 sec erasing the previous record timing of 15.19 sec set by J. Mahendra Rao of Basudeva Somani FGC in 2010-11.
In the women’s section, Meghana Devanga of Maharani Arts and Commerce College, Mysuru, threw the Shot Put to a record distance of 14.44mts and erased the old mark of 13.95 mts set by P.S. Uma of Teresian FGC, Mysuru during 2015-16.
Meanwhille, W.R. Harishitha of Basudeva Somani FGC, Mysuru, created a new meet record in the women’s Hammer Throw event erasing the her own record of mark of 42.30 mts set in previous year with a record throw of 46.04 mts.
