Mysore/Mysuru: Industrial Extension Cottage (Indext-C), Government of Gujarat, is organising 7th ‘Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav,’ an expo-cum-sale of handlooms and handicrafts from artisans of Gujarat, at JSS Mysore Urban Haat, Ring Road, Hebbal Industrial Area, in city from July 2 to 10 between 10 am and 9 pm.
Announcing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city recently, Dr. H.R. Mahadevaswamy, Joint Director, Technical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, said that more than 90 artisans from different parts of Gujarat State are participating in the expo. More than 50 dancers from Gujarat will perform the famous Garba Dance in traditional attire on the evenings of the first three days of the event, he added.
The event will be inaugurated by Dr. Bagadi Gautham, Deputy Commissioner, Mysuru, at 4 pm today (July 2). Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikenda Swamiji will grace the occasion.
Dr. C.G. Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, will preside. T.H.M. Kumar, Commissioner for Textile Development & Director of Handloom & Textile, Bengaluru, D. Roopa Moudgil, Managing Director, Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, Bengaluru, B.R. Poornima, Mysuru ZP CEO, D.M. Shukla, Executive Director, Indext-C, Gujarat, K.N. Aruni, Executive Director, NGEF, Bengaluru, T. Dinesh, Joint Director, District Industries Centre, N.M. Shivashankarappa, Director, Horticulture Divison, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Dr. H.R. Mahadevaswamy, Joint Director, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, R.S. Shah, Manager (Class-1), Indext-C and Dr. Snehal Makwana, Manager (Marketing), Indext-C, will be the chief guests.
Entry and parking are free at the expo. Dr. Snehal D. Makwan and JSS Urban Haat Project Officer M. Shivananjaswamy were present at the press meet.
