Plastic-free Dasara Exhibition; Figures of animals made from plants to attract visitors; Interactive Park for kids; Airport-like drinking water facility
Mysuru: The 90-day Dasara Exhibition will commence from Oct. 3 and will conclude on Dec. 31 at the Dasara Exhibition Grounds in city, said Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) Chairman Ayub Khan.
Addressing a press meet at his office in Dasara Exhibition Grounds here this morning, Ayub Khan said that this year’s expo will be a unique one with importance given to make Dasara Exhibition plastic-free.
Tender awarded at Rs. 10.03 crore
The KEA Chairman said that a tender was called for Rs. 9,77,35,331 for entry fee, parking lot, commercial stalls in A block, food stalls and amusement park and Bengaluru’s Fun World and Resorts Pvt. Ltd. bagged the tender for Rs. 10.03 crore.
Continuing, Ayub Khan said that this year, under the new concept ‘Brand Mysuru,’ Mysore Silk, Mysore Beetle Leaves, Nanjangud Rasabale, Mysore Mallige (Jasmine), Mysore Pak and Mysore Sandal Soap and Oil will be displayed at the expo.
Special lighting arrangements are made to the entry arch of the expo, space in front of it and paths inside the expo will be illuminated, the KEA Chairman said and added that airport-like drinking water fountain plant have been installed for the benefit of visitors at 15 points in expo premises.
For children
To attract children and others, ‘Kinnara Dasara’ will be held for the first time for which an interactive park and 3D entertainment will be set up to create a touch and feel environment. A 22 ft. tall Panda will be created along with other small statues of puppies, cats, dolphin, fishes, birds and squirrel out of plants and bushes.
The KEA Chairman said that 20 State Government stalls, four Zilla Panchayat stalls, two Central Government stalls and nine stalls of various Boards and Corporations will be coming up at the expo besides stating that electric vehicles will ferry the physically challenged and senior citizens visiting the exhibition. He said that cultural programmes will be held on all 90 days and added that the entry fee for children is priced at Rs. 20 and adults will be charged Rs. 35 per head.
