A criminal waste of water at Rajiv Nagar

Mysuru: At a time when we are fighting a battle over sharing of Cauvery water with Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry and at a time when a severe drinking water crisis is staring at us with the water levels at Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) going below the dead storage level, gallons of water is wasted in city on a daily basis.

While it is common for people  to wash their plush verandas and wash their vehicles oblivious of the impending crisis, here is a case where precious water is overflowing in the area 24/7 and since many days.

Gallons of water is flowing on the road near Madegowda Circle at Rajiv Nagar, between the Main Road which goes from Masjid-e-Khaif towards the Water Tank Dhobi Ghat Road. The photos have been clicked by Star of Mysore reader Rafi Syed who says that the underground pipeline could have been broken for the water to gush outside the surface. The underground water line carries Cauvery water to the surrounding areas. He said that many complaints to the MCC have not yielded any results and water continues to leak. There is an under-construction house near the area where the water is leaking and nobody seems to bother about the waste, he said.
