A dangerous spot

Sir,

The entry point to J.P. Nagar from H.D. Kote side is turning out to be a dangerous spot day by day. Every time I drive my two-wheeler or car, particularly from H.D. Kote side, I do so with my heart in mouth.

After the unauthorised sheds and business establishments that had come up at Nachanahallipalya were cleared and the two- lane road was re-laid, the spot has become more dangerous.

Firstly, from the J.P. Nagar side there is a downward gradient towards Kote road, which makes drivers drive their vehicles very fast. As they approach the Kote road they have to encounter two traffic surges —                                       one from NIE side and another from Kote side.

Here the confusion is maximum and as a result, a chaotic situation is created. To make matters worse, there is not even a road hump from J.P. Nagar side.

Secondly, more trouble is for the drivers coming from Kote side, as it is deadly obtuse angle turn. They have to encounter traffic coming from both NIE side and from J.P. Nagar side which creates an awkward situation.

At the spot where J.P. Nagar double road ends, the two roads converge to form a single road which adds to the confusion.

Even KSRTC buses and tempos stop at the very entrance which prevents smooth traffic. A full-fledged bus stand needs to be provided either before the entry point or a few feet after the junction. In fact, there is a dire need for a traffic signal at the point.

Till this is done, Traffic Police personnel should be posted at the point at least during the peak hours both in the morning and in the evening not only to ease the traffic but to avoid confusion.

It is high time things are sorted out before some fatal accident takes place at this spot.
