Speaking on the occasion, District Freedom Fighters Association President Dr. M.G. Krishnamurthy opined that the country should emerge with only two political parties to contest in polls.

He regretted that over 2,000 parties have registration in India but only a few contest in polls and added that caste has become an important factor in every party.

Recalling the fighting spirit of Thagaduru Ramachandra Rao, he opined that such a spirit is missing in youth today. He observed that politicians are misusing democracy as personal property. He pooh-poohed the false assurances given by political leaders during election campaign which were unrealistic and illogical. Spending crores of rupees during election itself is corruption, he said.
