Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing Police of not taking action against those who had forced a girl to commit suicide, Dalita Sangarsha Samithi (DSS) has demanded justice to the family of the deceased girl.
Addressing a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here yesterday, DSS Convenor Choranahalli Shivanna said that M.B. Neha, daughter of Bhanuprakash of Parasayyanahundi in the taluk had died under mysterious circumstances and held a youth from an influential family responsible for Neha committing suicide. Pointing out that though an FIR was registered a few months back, Shivanna accused the Police of not arresting the accused.
Shivanna said that Neha was pursuing her final year engineering course at a private college in city, where the youth Rakesh, who was also studying in the same college became a friend of Neha. Accusing Rakesh of falling in love with Neha and allegedly having physical relationship with her, Shivanna accused Rakesh of deserting Neha and having relationship with another girl. He (Shivanna) then accused Rakesh of harassing her mentally when she questioned him leading to Neha ending her life.
On Jan. 24 last, Neha spoke with Rakesh over the phone during which she had told him that she would commit suicide, Shivanna said and alleged that Rakesh, instead of preventing Neha from ending her life, he provoked Neha to take the extreme step and later he created drama by breaking open the door of the house and shifting the body to the hospital in the presence of another girl, who was with him.
Shivanna alleged that though a complaint with all the points was lodged and several months passed, a FIR was registered only after the Superintendent of Police (SP) intervened but still the accused have not been arrested.
Shivanna demanded the arrested of the accused within a week failing which he warned of staging protest seeking justice to Neha and her family.
Neha’s father Bhanuprakash, Kirangur Swamy, Harohalli Nataraju and Alagudu Chandrashekar were present at the press meet.
