ABVP stages protest Seeks free bus pass for poor students

Mysuru: Demanding extension of bus pass facility to poor students from all sections of the society, the activists of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a demonstration in front of the Taluk Office here yesterday.

Claiming that education has become a costly affair these days, the protestors maintained that talented poor students were being deprived of higher education as it was becoming unaffordable. In this backdrop, the Government should take measures for extending the free bus pass facility to SC/ST students, to all poor students, irrespective of their category.

Seeking improvement of bus service in rural areas, they urged the KSRTC authorities to allow students holding sub-urban bus pass to travel in city buses   as well.
