AC dealer duped of Rs. 37 lakh; case against five persons

Mysuru: A case of cheating has been registered at Mandi Police Station against five persons. They had purchased air conditioners (ACs) worth lakhs of rupees from a firm and had not paid the money.

The complaint has been registered by Green HVAC and Water Solutions proprietor Mohammad Amjad against Sadiq Sharief, Abdul Majeed, Syed Suhel, Saleem Hussain and Farooq, all from Bengaluru. Complainant Mohammad Amjad has stated that the accused purchased AC equipment worth Rs. 37 lakh from him and not paid the money.

He stated that the accused approached him in Bengaluru as the partners of Cluster Infrastructure Builders and showed him photographs of buildings and told him that they would need 150 ACs.

“The accused told me that if I supplied ACs at a discounted rate, more equipment will be ordered. Based on their request, I had sent the AC consignment to Bengaluru and they gave me a DD for Rs. 10 lakh and gave two cheques for Rs. 37 lakh,” Mohammad Amjad stated in the complaint.

He told the Police that when he presented the cheques to the bank, both the accounts did not have cash. He said that when he visited the Cluster Infrastructure Builders premises, the place was vacated by the accused and their phones were switched off.
