Academic Terrorist: MGP clarifies

Sir,

This refers to the report regarding the press conference addressed by former VC Prof. K.S. Rangappa on issues pertaining to KSOU (SOM dated Aug.2). In this connection, I wish to state the following to clear the doubts, if any, in the minds of the readers:

Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) has not made any statement calling Prof. Rangappa “Academic Terrorist,” or used any such invective or strong language.

MGP has no idea as to who may have made such an abusive statement in the name of MGP, and disowns all such statements.

MGP does not indulge in name-calling or personal accusations in its pursuit of public issues.

– Dr. M.M. Shenoi, Secretary, MGP, Mysuru, 4.8.2017

Note: Star of Mysore was given a copy of the letter addressed to Sri Narendra Modiji personally by two top senior members of the MGP in SOM’s Office for publication. In that letter, the last para read: “Therefore we request you to initiate CBI investigation… which would enable action under law against these academic terrorists.”

There was no date or the name of MGP in the copy. However, they said it was in the original letter sent to the PMO. Star of Mysore trusted them without verifying or asking for the signed copy taken from their letter-head. We live and learn. Our Features Editor, who attended the press conference, asked that question trusting the said letter to be from the MGP.

Now, looking at MGP’s clarification, it was lucky for  SOM not to have published that letter.  – Editor-in-Chief
