Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysore Centre of the Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) and The Ramco Cements Limited will be jointly celebrating Engineers Day on Sept. 23 at MBCT Auditorium, Akkamahadevi Road, Vishveshwaranagar. On the occasion, two eminent Civil Engineers Prof. S.N. Karnik and Er. H.N. Vijay Vittal will be felicitated.
Prof. Karnik, a distinguished teacher, taught at the Uni-versity of Ife, ILE – IFE, Nige-ria, Siddaganga Institute of Techno-logy, Tumakuru and NIE, Mysuru, where he retired as the Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering in 2004.
A well-known Structural Consultant, he was involved in planning or design or as a Consulting Engineer for a variety of structures at Nigeria, Bengaluru, Harihar and Mysuru.
Er. Vijaya Vittal, a graduate in Civil Engineering from NIE, Mysuru, obtained his Master’s degree in Structures from IIT, Madras. He has the distinction of having completed the Indian Engineering Services Examination with 23rd Rank. He has specialised in Computer Aided Analysis, Design of RCC, Steel and Prestressed Concrete Structures, Construction Man-agement and Quality Control. He was involved in several presti-gious projects at Saudi Arabia, Yemen, New Delhi and Mysuru.
S.L. Shivaprasad, Retired Chief Engineer, KPCL and Secretary of People Education Trust, will be the chief guest. K. Jayakumar, President – Marketing, The Ramco Cements Ltd., will be the guest of honour. Er. H.S. Deepak, Chairman of ACCE (I), Mysuru, will preside.
